Peking University International Workshop on Climate and Environmental Change

发布时间:2016-06-30

Date: July 31, 2016

Host: Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, School of Physics, Peking University

Venue: West 202, Building of Physics, Peking University

Contact: Jintai Lin (linjt@pku.edu.cn); Meijing Liu (liumj@pku.edu.cn)

Climate and environmental change is one of the most important sustainability challenges faced by China and the world. Anthropogenic activities by fossil fuel burning, land cover alterations, and excessive use of energy, water, materials and other natural resources, have resulted in fundamental changes in the Earth’s climate, environment, and ecosystems. In the foreseeable future, the world’s population and per capita use of resources will continue to grow rapidly, posing enormous difficulties for sustainable development that does not necessitate a worsening environment.

To help address various science questions regarding climate and environmental change, Peking University, cordially supported by its alumni, colleagues and friends, will host a one-day International Workshop on Climate and Environmental Change. The workshop will welcome scientists with various research backgrounds and disciplines to raise, discuss, and collaborate on essential science questions regarding climate and environment change, with the aim of sparking new ideas and thinking in an interdisciplinary environment.

This workshop will invite speakers from various disciplines of climate and environmental sciences, and will be open to the public. We welcome all students, scientists, and researchers to attend the workshop. Below is a preliminary list of invited speakers (in alphabetical order):
