Multiple Tenure-Track Positions in the Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, School of Physics, Peking University

发布时间:2016-10-27

The Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences of Peking University invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in atmospheric and oceanic sciences. Two positions are available in physical oceanography, particularly in the areas of ocean general circulation and dynamics, air-sea interaction and climate, ocean biogeochemical cycle, ocean model development, and satellite oceanography. Four positions are available in atmospheric sciences, particularly in the areas of climate dynamics and modeling, synoptic and meso-scale meteorology, radiation and remote sensing, cloud physics, atmospheric boundary layer, land-air interaction, and planetary atmospheres. All positions are at the tenure-track assistant professor level under the “Young Qianren” or “Bairen” Programs. For exceptional cases, a more senior starting position may be considered. Recruiting is conducted semi-annually (in spring and fall), until all positions are filled. The application deadline is normally around March 01 for the spring recruiting and September 01 for the fall recruiting. The deadline of the next round of application is Feb 28, 2017.

Peking University is a leading university in China with complete disciplines in all natural and social sciences. The Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences offers comprehensive academic programs for undergraduates, Master, and Ph.D. students (http://www.atmos.pku.edu.cn/). The Dept. currently has 31 faculty members with diverse research interests, including radiation and remote sensing, climate dynamics, atmospheric dynamics, synoptic and meso-scale meteorology, cloud physics, atmospheric chemistry, boundary layer meteorology, air-sea-land interaction, physical oceanography, and planetary atmospheres, etc.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in atmospheric, oceanic sciences or related research disciplines

At least two years of postdoctoral research experience

Benefits

Start-up research funding is available. The amount of funding is dependent on the applicant’s research area.

Base annual salary is competitive. For detailed salary information, please contact us.

Subject to availability, a 2-bedroom university apartment may be rented at a reduced rate. Better housing support is likely in the near future.
