摘要:
It is certain that the planet is warming, and that it will continue to warm. What is less certain is how the atmospheric circulation and structure will respond to the warming, and it is those changes that determine how the regional climate and weather will change in the future. In this lecture I will discuss which responses of circulation are robust, which ones are delicate, and what the underlying mechanisms might be. In particular I will discuss the expansion of the Hadley Cell, the shift of the mid-latitude westerlies, and the change in height and temperature of the tropopause.
