摘要:Droughts are driven by naturally occurring climate variations. Droughts also have quite different scales and implications across a number of sectors, depending on whether it manifests as a meteorological, agricultural or hydrological drought, where the latter type of droughts could be affected by human activities directly. This raises a grand challenge to understand and predict droughts across scales in a changing environment. In this presentation, I will show some recent work on the detection and attribution of the changes in “flash drought” that is usually concurrent with heat extreme, as well as multiscale drought forecasting with a dynamical-statistical hydro-climate approach that addresses both natural and anthropogenic influences.
